RNA + Us

RNA research as a network

This website was developed as an initiative of the research network "NCCR RNA & Disease". The "NCCR RNA & Disease" is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, the University of Bern and ETH Zurich. The website, which is specifically aimed at a lay audience, aims to inform the general public about current research developments and to stimulate interest in basic research; and it provides material for high school teachers on topics such as gene expression, RNA biology and RNA therapeutics.

The website Cosmos RNA - Molecool is constantly updated with new content. This includes knowledge articles about the functions and roles of RNA (RNA + Knowledge), research results from our network (RNA + Research), reports on socially relevant topics (RNA + Society) or interactive content that will introduce you to the world of RNA in a playful manner (RNA + You).

Our researchers

The National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) "RNA & Disease", which is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and supported by the institutions of the University of Bern and ETH Zurich, comprises over 50 research groups at 13 Swiss institutions.

The NCCR "RNA & Disease" is one of the world's leaders in the field of RNA research. The synergies of several disciplines - in particular molecular, structural and cell biology, organic chemistry, biophysics, biochemistry, bioinformatics and physiology - makes it possible to generate added value for research that goes far beyond the individual achievements of the participating research groups. Our scientists, lab technicians, students and trainees represent more than 30 nationalities around the world. Since its foundation in 2014, the NCCR "RNA & Disease" has grown from 16 research groups to more than 50 research groups, which carry out their activities at the Universities of Bern, Basel, Geneva, Lausanne and Zurich, the Federal Institutes of Technology in Zurich and Lausanne, as well as at the Friedrich Miescher Institute in Basel, the Inselspital in Bern, the Triemli and University Hospitals in Zurich, and the Institutes of Cancer Research and Biomedical Research in Bellinzona.

The individual research groups of the NCCR "RNA & Disease" can be found on the NCCR website.
