Launched in 2014, the National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) "RNA & Disease" aims to accelerate and promote discoveries in basic research and its application in medicine.
Building Bridges - from bench to bedside
The NCCR RNA & Disease counts more than 150 researchers from >50 laboratories located at 12 Swiss institutions that are involved in achieving this goal. Thanks to cutting-edge interdisciplinary research as well as national and international research collaborations, the research network RNA & Disease plays an important role in the field of RNA biology worldwide. In order to ensure the long-term positive effects of its research activities and the sustainability of Swiss RNA research at the highest level, the NCCR "RNA & Disease" promotes and maintains interactions with clinical research and the pharmaceutical industry. The network is also strongly committed to promoting young talents at all levels.
The National Centres of Competence in Research (NCCRs)
The National Centres of Competence in Research are a research instrument of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). The objectives are the sustainable establishment of competence centers and strengthening of Swiss research in strategically important research areas for science, society and the economy.
Further information on the currently running NCCRs can be found on the SNSF website: Information on the National Centres of Competence in Research (NCCRs)
The NCCR "RNA & Disease" is lead by a co-directorate of the University of Bern and the ETH Zurich.
